Local History and Genealogy

The Lancaster County Library collects and maintains materials dealing with Local History and Genealogy. The focus is on Lancaster County, but some material on South Carolina and other states is available. Materials are located in the Main Library in Lancaster and are available during normal Library hours.

 

Caroliniana Room

The Caroliniana Room holds books, periodicals, maps, and vertical files.
These materials are in open stacks for easy access for visitors.

 

Microform Holdings

Microfilm and readers are located outside the Caroliniana Room.

 

Special Collections

Research collections, rare, and fragile items are held in Special Collections. Visitors may ask for these materials at the front desk.

 

Exhibits

Display cases in the Main Library highlight people, places, and events significant to Lancaster County.
