Computer Use Guidelines


1.  All computer users must have a valid Lancaster County Library borrower's card. No sharing or using cards issued to other patrons (including dependant children's cards) will be permitted.

2.  Patrons changing any computer settings will lose all computer privileges.
     This includes running scripts to bypass any security or using any method to access restricted sites.

3.  Internet users MAY NOT

a.   download or save to the hard drive

b.   download music or games to any portable storage device 

c.   use chat rooms, instant messenger or message boards

d.   access sexually explicit content

e.   access and/or play game programs, music or videos.

 

4.  Equipment use is limited to 2 hours per day.

Exception:   30 minutes on the Children's Computers.

5.  Computers will be turned off 15 minutes before closing time.

6.  USB or flash drives may be purchased at cost from the library for storage of data.

7.  Printing charge is 10 cents per page for black and white, 50 cent per page for color.  Ask at the Circulation Desk for prints to be released from the printer.  Prints must be paid for at the time of printing.

8.  Users must follow this library's Code of Conduct.  No loud talking or other disruptive behavior is permitted.

9.  Please do not bring small children and babies with you when you are using library computers.   Your session may be terminated if your children are disturbing other users.

10.  No more than 2 persons per workstation at any time.

11.  The library's Internet Access Policy is available upon request.

INTERNET RESTRICTIONS:

11 years and younger- Adult's presence required

CHILDREN’S COMPUTER (GAMES ONLY) RESTRICTIONS:

5 years and younger- Adult’s presence required

WORD PROCESSING:

11 years or younger- Adult's presence required

The Lancaster County Library reserves the right to deny or restrict Internet/Computer access to children or youth who do not demonstrate a specific information need.
