The Lancaster County Library System

The Lancaster County Library's mission is to provide materials and resources to meet the changing information needs of a growing community.  The library system consists of the main library, the Kershaw Branch the Del Webb Library at Indian Land.

The main library at 313 S. White Street in Lancaster offers children’s programs, reference assistance and a wide variety of informational and recreational materials. Online databases and Internet access are available for public use. These services also extend to the Kershaw Branch library on Fork Hill Road in Kershaw and the Del Webb Library in Indian Land.

Getting a Library Card

Library cards are free to all South Carolina residents. Those patrons who do not live within the state may obtain library cards by paying an annual fee. Library cards are issued at any Lancaster County Library branch with proof of current name and address. First time check out is limited to five items.

Your library card can be used at each branch and the bookmobile, but you must present the card each time you borrow materials.

The card holder is responsible for all materials checked out on his or her library card. Parents are responsible for items checked out by their children. Report the loss or theft of a card promptly to avoid its unauthorized use. A card holder is responsible until loss is reported. Report address or phone number changes immediately by calling any branch.

Checkout Periods

Most items circulate for three weeks. Request books are checked out for two weeks while videos and DVDs circulate for one week.
