IL library campaign gets big boost The Lancaster County Library received a big boost in its capital campaign for the new library in Indian Land with four major pledges to match a $100,000 challenge grant from the J. Marion Sims Foundation. Founders Federal Credit Union has pledged $50,000 to fund the children's area of the library. Continue for Del Webb Library Six
donors have added $131,000 to the Capital Campaign for the new library in
Indian Land to match a $100,000 challenge grant from the J. Marion Sims
Foundation. These funds will
help complete the interior space for the Del Webb Library, scheduled to
begin construction by early summer. A development agreement between County
Council and Del Webb will fund the construction. Founders
Federal Credit Union pledged $50,000 to support the Children’s Area of
the library. Comporium Communications will furnish the Conference Room
with its gift of $20,000. Lindsay and Louise Pettus pledged $12,500 each
to fund a special exhibit space to house displays of the Catawba nation
and culture. The Lancaster County Natural Gas Authority designated its
$21,000 toward the Circulation Desk, the “nerve center” of the
library. Springs Memorial Hospital will sponsor the New Book Display area
of the library for $15,000. The
library has raised approximately $300,000 of the $700,000 needed to
complete the project. |

Some donor organizations require recipients to have 501(c) (3) nonprofit status with the Internal Revenue Service. In this case, checks may be made payable to the Friends of the Lancaster County Library, in care of the library. Friends of the Lancaster County Library is a 501(c) (3) charitable corporation. Either way, your gift will be used entirely for expenses related to the building, books and furnishings of the Del Webb Library at Indian Land. Copies of the IRS rulings for both entities are available from the library bookkeeper.
